Yang Dan, formerly of Spring Garden (NE 55th & 40th NE), now runs the Moon Temple. The ambiance leaves quite a bit to be desired, especially the bar, but the paintings, by the owner himself, add a nice touch. The food is uniformly quite good, with some exceptions--skip the "American" dishes such as chow mein, almond fried chicken, etc., and go for the mu shu pork, the rock cod filet, the Mongolian beef, or the white chicken & mixed vegetables noodle soup. Since the Moon Temple incorporates the Mandarin Lounge, you can get all sorts of mixed drinks with your meal. Service is great and they don't leave you waiting. As for the bar, it's dark and smoky. Definitely not a "classy" joint if that's what you're looking for, but the drinks are well-made and reasonably priced, and the jukebox isn't half bad.
