I first tried the Sichuanese Cuisine restaurant when I was out running errands. I tried the Mandarin Spicy Chicken. Wonderful! Simply wonderful. And the Mandarin Spicy Fish (when available, as it is an off-the-menu special) is also a taste treat not to be missed. My wife is quite fond of the deep-cooked lamb with onion, and recommends it to anyone who enjoys interesting spices and combinations of flavours.
In addition, the pan-fried dumplings are quite good, and you get a ton of dumplings with your order. Similarly, the order of soup is actually enough for two, or even three. Delicious and well worth ordering.
On most nights, the place is crowded with folks doing the hot pot. I have not tried it, but it seems to have many devoted fans.
Finally, I would add that the wait staff are friendly, and treat you more like family members than customers. When I come in, the middle-aged lady who often waits tables (and whom I would guess is one of the owners) always greets me and welcomes me back. The first time I showed up, out of the blue, to make a take-away order, she got me a table to sit at, and brought me water while I waited.
There are two warnings I would pass along, however. One, parking here is often quite difficult to find, as it is in a small strip mall. Two, the restaurant is quite small, with about eight tables or so, and the decor is extremely plain. If you are looking for a dining experience that will be featured on the cover of a glossy magazine, look elsewhere. But if your aim is good food, you have come to the right place.
To sum up, this unprepossessing little restaurants has become one of the landmark restaurants I take all out-of-town visitors to at least once. Try it! I know you will be glad you did.

This resturant is tucked away in an ugly strip mall at 12th and Jackson. From the outside, it looks like maybe it closed down a couple of years ago. Not so. This place is actually quite hoppin' on a Friday night.
Their food, I'm told, is authentic Sichuanese. I wouldn't know, but I do know it is absolutely wonderful. As is fairly common in the ID, the service is spotty, but the wait staff is sweet and their food more than makes up for the occassional long wait. Try the Dried-cooked string beans!
