Forget Olive Garden! Who needs all you can eat salad when you can eat in style at Il Fornaio? OK, so its quite a bit more spendy, but if you skipped Olive Garden just once or twice ayou could be eating in style. When you walk into Il Fornaio, you feel like you have just stepped into a fancy Beverly Hills eatery. The food is consistently good and the bread is fantastic. My best advice, avoid the affiliated, cheaper Rissoto restaurant downstairs and save up for the real thing upstairs.

Of the upper dining room (more expensive, completely different menu selection, although similar in style) and the lower level risotteria, I tend toward the latter; the service is comparable and the food equally good, but I find the risotteria to be homier and more comfortable. It tends to be a bit faster in turn-over, so if you are looking for a faster bite to eat, the lower level is probably a better bet. I'd definitely recommend any of their pizza or pasta dishes, but have never had a good salad there, and I've tried a few of them. Seafood dishes are hit or miss; try any of the risottos for something incredibly comforting.

This place is great if you're going to be in the Westlake Area of downtown. Has great mini pizzas if you are looking for something low key, but also has great pasta dishes
